Simple Reader is a Chrome browser extension designed to read selected or visible webpage text aloud and provide reading controls such as playback speed, voice selection, word display, highlighting, and reading progress.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Simple Reader accesses, how that information is used, and how it is protected.

Simple Reader may temporarily access the following information when you activate the extension:

• Text that you select or choose to have read aloud
• Text displayed on the webpage or document being read
• The current webpage tab when necessary to provide reading and highlighting functions
• Extension settings, such as selected voice, reading speed, display mode, and other user preferences
• Subscription or license status when paid access is enabled

Simple Reader accesses this information only to provide its reading functions.

Simple Reader does not collect, sell, rent, or share your browsing history.

Simple Reader does not collect:

• Medical information
• Financial account information
• Passwords
• Authentication credentials
• Credit card numbers
• Personal messages
• Complete browsing history
• Keystrokes unrelated to the extension’s keyboard shortcuts
• Website content that you have not chosen to read with the extension

Simple Reader does not use accessed webpage content for advertising, profiling, analytics, or marketing.

Information accessed by Simple Reader is used only to:

• Read selected or visible text aloud
• Highlight text while it is being read
• Display individual words or reading progress
• Allow users to pause, resume, or adjust reading speed
• Save extension preferences
• Determine whether a user has an active subscription or license
• Maintain and improve the operation and security of the extension

Simple Reader does not use webpage content for purposes unrelated to the extension’s primary reading functionality.

Simple Reader uses browser-provided or device-provided text-to-speech functionality.

Text selected for reading may be processed by the text-to-speech voice or speech service selected on your computer or browser. Depending on the voice selected, speech processing may occur locally on your device or may be handled by a service provided by your operating system, browser, or voice provider.

Simple Reader does not independently store or retain the text submitted for speech after the reading function is completed.

Use of third-party or cloud-based voices may be subject to the privacy policies of the applicable browser, operating-system provider, or speech-service provider.

Simple Reader may use Chrome extension storage to save user preferences, including:

• Reading speed
• Selected voice
• Display mode
• Console position
• Interface preferences
• License or subscription status information

These settings are used to preserve your preferences between browser sessions.

Simple Reader does not use locally stored information for advertising or user profiling.

Simple Reader may use ExtensionPay or another payment-management provider to verify whether a user has an active subscription or license.

Payment transactions may be processed by third-party payment providers such as ExtensionPay and Stripe. These providers may collect information necessary to process payments, including an email address and payment information.

Simple Reader does not receive or store complete credit card numbers or banking information.

Information handled by these providers is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.

Simple Reader does not sell user data.

Simple Reader does not transfer user data to third parties except when necessary to:

• Provide text-to-speech functionality through a selected speech service
• Process payments or verify subscription status
• Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request

Any third-party processing is limited to what is necessary to provide the relevant service.

Simple Reader may request Chrome permissions required to perform its reading functions.

Simple Reader does not use Chrome permissions to collect information for advertising, unrelated analytics, creditworthiness, lending, or data brokerage.

Text accessed for reading is not permanently stored by Simple Reader.

User preferences may remain stored in Chrome extension storage until:

• The user clears extension data
• The extension is removed
• The settings are reset

Subscription information may be retained by the applicable payment provider according to that provider’s retention policies and applicable legal requirements.

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information associated with Simple Reader.

However, no browser extension, computer system, internet transmission, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Simple Reader is not directed specifically to children under 13.

Simple Reader does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes that a child has provided personal information may contact us to request review or deletion.

Users may stop Simple Reader from accessing webpage text by:

• Turning off the extension
• Closing the reading console
• Disabling the extension in Chrome
• Removing the extension from Chrome

Users may also clear stored extension settings through Chrome’s extension or browser-data controls.

Simple Reader’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including applicable limited-use requirements.

Information accessed through Chrome extension permissions is used only to provide or improve the user-facing features of Simple Reader.

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Simple Reader’s features, permissions, payment systems, or legal obligations change.

The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

Material changes may also be communicated through the extension, the Chrome Web Store listing, or another appropriate method.
